I enjoyed the show. Honestly I know very little of Charles Spurgeon. I recon it's because I'm the kind of person that stays close to Scripture.

although I do read many others commentaries, writings etc, from time to time.
I love his articulate writings when I have read them and his aphorisms throughout.
Thanks Lyn I enjoy your posts

Thanks sis, actually I already have that link and a plethora of other links but have never really spent much time there.

would you suggest I take some time and read some of Spurgen's writings? Do you have some other suggestions of fine readings and what have you learned from others writings that's most important in your life to help you in your walk with Christ?

thank you Lyn

I encourage you to read Spurgeon, as well as J.C. Ryle, Thomas Watson, and others which you can find at http://www.puritansermons.com/

These men have been tremendous influence in my walk with Christ.

One truth I love in the film is how Spurgen came to know Jesus Christ as precious in his eyes. THAT is SO TRUE. I cannot stress enough how much. When I was saved that's what happened and even now I have times when Jesus is who becomes so precious in my eyes.

For we are changed according to what we focus on (2 Corinthians 3:18).
This is why David said- "One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple."-Psalm 27:4

Once you get that FIRST gaze of the Lord Jesus the moment you are saved, you long for more and more. It fades away because we take our eyes off of Christ.

I long for and pray for Christians to return to that point-their first love in Christ..
May God bless you richly with His enthralled beauty Lyn
